Project 1102 (BNCT / Boron Neutron Capture Therapy)
A drug-discovery × platform built around the highly selective retention of boron carriers in target cells, engineered for refractory cancer / regeneration / regenerative medicine
Government-backed supportJETRO inward investment (2025-08-25)
Why BNCT
- Selectivity: accumulate in target cells, then destroy them by neutron irradiation
- Combination: flexible use alongside other therapeutics
- Lower patient burden: an option even where surgery is difficult
- Unmet need: balancing efficacy and QOL in hard-to-treat areas such as head & neck
- Minimizing animal testing: a scheme provable through direct physical phenomena and verification
The 1102 approach
- Carrier design: integrated for high specificity, retention and safety
- Delivery optimization: multi-layered, informed by the tumor microenvironment and intracellular kinetics
- Protocol integration: clinical-implementation-oriented, aligning dosing and irradiation
- Platformization: generative AI bridging compound design, preclinical evaluation and data management
