Following his graduate degree at the University of Tokyo, he conducted research at a top laboratory at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where sustained translational research with Genentech and Curis contributed to a global blockbuster. He went on to oversee oncology research programs at Takeda Pharmaceutical, and held the same program-leadership role at Takeda Oncology Company / Millennium Pharmaceuticals in Boston. At Astellas, leadership across R&D and business development produced multiple approved therapies through M&A integration. As site head of a global pharma corporate venture capital arm, he led strategic investments and forged partnerships with top-tier U.S. and European venture firms — an arm ranked 7th worldwide.
Professorship: University of Tokyo (International Graduate Program in Life Sciences), Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine.
