Founder & CEO, Bloom X³ | Ph.D. in Veterinary Medical Science (Epigenetics), Licensed Pharmacist
Hiro began his career in clinical development at Shionogi and earned his Ph.D. (Epigenetics) from the University of Tokyo. At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital he worked on collaborative research with Genentech and Curis that led to a medicine launched by Roche/Genentech.
He went on to lead global R&D, business development and M&A/PMI at Takeda, Millennium Pharmaceuticals and Astellas, where he headed the corporate venture capital arm in San Francisco. During his tenure, the unit ranked 7th among pharma CVCs worldwide in Silicon Valley Bank’s report. He also helped establish a drug discovery incubator at Kyoto University and has taught at the University of Tokyo.
